Concrete Repair and Waterproofing Solutions

Following the successful parking garage waterproofing project at the Robinson St townhome complex in Oakville, our team was called back for additional repairs. This time, the scope of work included cold joint waterproofing, ceiling crack repair, and covering an old drain, all essential tasks to maintain the structural integrity and safety of the property.

Cold Joint Waterproofing

Cold joints, often vulnerable to water infiltration, required immediate attention. Our repair process began with stopping any active leaks using hydraulic cement. Next, the joint was thoroughly coated with an industrial-strength adhesive to ensure a strong bond. A waterproofing membrane was then applied as a continuous patch along the entire length of the joint. To reinforce the repair, we added a final layer of hydraulic cement, applied with a specialized adhesive, providing an extra barrier against future leaks.

Ceiling Crack Repair

Ceiling cracks can compromise both the aesthetics and safety of a structure. To address this, we first opened the crack to a depth of one inch to ensure a solid repair base. Any active leaks were stopped using hydraulic cement. The subsequent steps mirrored the cold joint repair process, including the application of industrial-strength adhesive, a waterproofing membrane, and a final layer of hydraulic cement. This method ensures a durable repair, preventing water infiltration and further cracking.

Drain Covering

The existing drain cover, which was no longer needed, was carefully removed. The opening was then covered using a mixture of specialized cement and parging mix, ensuring a smooth and secure finish. This mix was applied with an industrial-strength adhesive to ensure a lasting bond, effectively sealing the drain and preventing any potential water ingress.

These repairs, executed with precision and high-quality materials, have significantly enhanced the durability and waterproofing of the townhome complex, ensuring residents can enjoy a safe and dry environment for years to come.
